The fest began on March 4, while Day 1 was a houseful with banner making, matka painting, egg catching and volley and throwball, today the students were busy cheering for their cricket teams and using their creativity in mehndi, intellect in computer games and stamina in kho-kho. “It’s a win-win deal for each one of us. For whether we emerge the winner or not we learn a lot here,” chips in shutterbug (he’s clicked all the accompanying pictures) and the captain of Maurya, Gagan Deep Singh. He feels that this festival is a training ground, where future architects collaborate to share perspectives and develop new skills. Lend an ear to their conversations and you’ll agree with him. From, “I told you the colour scheme won’t go” to “If we hadn’t added that last straw, we would have got a higher lift” it was an absorbing mix. But for the organisers it was a different deal, “Taking part is more fun, and despite the tension, we have learnt a lot during the organising and implementation stage. How to work together in a team, get sponsorships, deal with last-moment crisis, the fest has given us hands-on experience,” chorus Aman Sohal, President, and Aditi Gupta, General Secretary.
The whole campus is enjoying the festive fervour, “compulsory participation of each of the 200 students makes it fun,” chirps Mukesh Sondhi, Sports Secretary. With workshops and contests like soap carving, wire moulding, scarecrow designs and Govinda aala re and mudra, in the pipeline, this one assures you a lot more fun ahead.
—Archo Fest is on till March 19.
