Ludhiana, February 29 The Sarabha Nagar police have registered a case against six students following a mid-night clash that left two boys, Kanwaldeep Singh and Gurjot Singh of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), severally injured. This brawl occurred on Februray 26.

Those named in the FIR included Ajinder Gill, Amit Jindal, Shivinder, Amandeep Vashisht, Gaurav Kaul and Kshiti Neghingi. However no arrest has been made so far as the all the accused are on the run, informed SHO Sarabha Nagar Navreet Singh.

Meanwhile the university authorities have also marked the case to Disciplinary Committee. Dr Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean, College of Veterinary Sciences, said that report of the committee was awaited and action would be taken as per the recommendations of the committee.

Talking about the reason of the brawl, Navreet Singh said, “Parents of the injured boys have told us that they will talk to us on Monday. However as per us, this brawl seems to a sequel of the on-going enmity between the two groups of students on the campus.”

Notable here is that on October 30, 2007, Sandeep Singh Bhullar, a student was beaten mercilessly in his hostel room by three of his classmates. Sukhdeep Singh had to be admitted to hospital following which the three boys were rusticated from the university for one year. These boys, despite requesting for mercy plea, were not spared.

As the assailants used kirpans, Kanwaldeep’s wound required 35 stitches and 12 stitches were made on Gurjot’s forehand.
