New Delhi Two weeks before the action comes closer home, Delhi player Gagan Verma can look back on what has been a season to remember for the tour veteran.

Having earned points in every tournament he has played this season, Verma has a sizeable lead on the LG Amateur Tour Order of Merit list. Verma, who had won his career’s first title earlier this season at the Southern India Amateur, has hung close to the winner in every other tournament.

Another Delhi-based player, Vikram Rana, who registered another top-five finish at the LG Western India Amateur this past week, is in second place.

Though, Rana, who was consigned to his season’s third second spot by a shot in the thrilling finish of the Samarvir Sahi Amateur in Chandigarh in November, is the only one in the top-five without a win under his belt.

Moin Malak and HS Kang are close on the heels of Rana, at third and fourth place respectively. Both players have a win against their name, clinching a title each during the eastern swing of the tour in December.

The only player other than Rashid Khan to have multiple wins on the tour this season is Abhishek Jha, who completed his second win at the Western India last week. The win allowed the Bangalore lad to climb to the fifth spot on the LG Order of Merit list.

Tour rookie, Rashid Khan, who created a flutter with three back-to-back wins on the tour, slid to tenth spot on the list as he has stayed away from the action with international commitments. But, fresh from a good finish at the Asia junior golf team championships held in Malaysia, the Delhi player said: “I would be playing in the remaining tournaments and definitely looking to add to my tally of wins on tour.”

The next tournament on tour is the LG Noida Open Amateur, scheduled to take place at the Noida Golf Club from the February 10 to 13, before the players head to Kolkata for the All-India Amateur Championship.

Order of Merit (Top-15): 1 Gagan Verma 248 points, 2 Vikram Rana 209.5, 3 Moin Malak 202, 4 HSKang — 199.5, 5 Abhishek Jha 192, 6 Pawan Kumar 190, 7 Manav Das 185, 8 Rahul Bajaj 178, 9 Saurabh Bahuguna 170, 10 Rashid Khan 160, 11 Abhinav Lohan 154, 12 Karan Vasudeva 145, 13 Arshdeep Tiwana 129, 14 Jasjeet Singh 95, 15 Amanjyot Singh 83
