Ludhiana With the arrest of two members of the highway robbers gang, the city police have cracked a murder mystery and also recovered a few stolen vehicles.

The police nabbed Yogesh Sharma and Navdeep, from a checkpost near the Vardhman Chowk on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh highway.

The third member of the gang, Narinder Sharma, meanwhile, is still absconding. They are all residents of Shivaji Nagar.

DSP Balraj Singh Gill, while addressing mediapersons, said the father-son duo, Yogesh Sharma and Narinder Sharma, along with Navdeep, were part of the three-member gang, which allegedly attacked and looted commuters on the highway.

He added that the gang also had a Tavera in its possession, which was stolen from one person in Kangra, after killing its driver, who has been identified as one Satish.

The gang was also involved in a number of highway robberies and its members were wanted in over a dozen cases, he said.

Apart from Tavera, the police have also recovered a motorcycle, 26 mobiles; one country made .12 bore pistol, two live cartridges and a large quantity of gold ornaments from their possession.

“We are still investigating the matter and are likely to get more information from the culprits. We are also trying our best to apprehend Narinder, who is on the run,” DSP Gill said.
