Gang of history-sheeters with a close-knit core group

The Satte gang is a very close-knit and has 11 core members. The 11 were like brothers and used their resources to help gang members fight legal cases if arrested. A police source saidthat they also took care of the families of their arrested associates. The gang has various criminal cases registered it in the NCR and their criminal activities stretched as far as Kota in Rajasthan. One of the gang members was recently arrested with Rs 60 lakh in cash in connection with a robbery of Rs 80 lakh reported there. The arrested person is said to be the brother-in-law of the kingpin, Satya Prakash.

All the four arrested after Monday’s shootout are declared ‘bad characters’ of their areas. Police said the core members occasionally they brought in other criminals based in Easter Uttar Pradesh for criminal activities.

1. Satya Prakash
He is the alleged kingpin of the gang and his criminal records date back to 1998 when a robbery was reported from a remote district Bijnore in Uttar Pradesh. His first involvement in the Capital was in IP Estate in 1998. Police officials said that he has 21 cases registered against him within Delhi. He is declared a ‘bad character’ of Lodhi Colony and Nand Nagri. In addition, according to the police, he has at least 25 cases registered against him in Uttar Pradesh. A reward of Rs 10,000 was announced by UP Police for his arrest. His cases include dacoity, bank robberies, house robberies, attempt to murder and Arms Act. In the recent cases of Delhi, he is allegedly involved in RK Puram cash van robbery, Samaipur Badli bank robbery, Greater Kailash house robbery and Malviya Nagar break in. He is a resident of Nand Nagri.

2. Sonu alias Kuldeep Singh
He is the second in command of the gang. He has 12 cases registered against him. He allegedly conducted a recce for the gang and was the one responsible for identifying vulnerable banks and deciding on the modus operandi. In Monday’s encounter, the Honda Accord car belonged to him. Police are verifying whether the car belongs to him or if it was stolen. He lived in A-37, South Extension-II.

3. Shakeel alias Kalia
He is a rewarded criminal of Haryana and is wanted in a sensational robbery case in Sonepat. He is a declared ‘bad character’ in the area. He is wanted in Delhi as well for allegedly shooting at a constable in Chhattarpur. He hails from Mustafabad.

4. Nadeem
He is a declared ‘bad character’ of Khatoli. Police also has an input that he is an Afghan national. He is also said to be involved in various criminal cases which are being probed. He lives in Lajpat Nagar.
