Gang of robbers busted in Anand

Vadodara, March 6 The Anand district police have busted a three-member gang involved in several robbery cases. The police recovered a watch, Rs 37,000 in cash, a sword, jewellery, expensive saris and other materials from the three. The three had reportedly attacked one Ganga Makwana, a resident of Indranj village, and escaped with Rs 7,000 in cash. They were also accused of robbing Rs 2,000 in cash from Ayub Vohra, a resident of Tarapur.

The arrested persons include Shakil Baig Ismail Baig Mirza, Shahid Miya alias Abu alias Kalu Sheikh and Prakash alias Kaliyo Tadpada Vaghri, all residents of Petlad. Superintendent of Police Gagandeep Gambhir said, “They were arrested (on Wednesday) when they planning to target some houses in Tarapur. They have confessed to their involvement in nearly six incidents of theft, including one in Moksi village.” Gambhir added, “Shakil used to dump the booty at his girlfriend’s place in a Tarapur suburb.” Deputy SP Subodh Odedra said, “As soon as we got the message of an attempted theft at a house, we kept a watch and managed to trace one Shakil. The arrest led to his other accomplices being caught.”
