New Delhi With the arrest of five persons, the East Delhi police have busted a gang of truck-jackers. Kaiser Ali, Aasim Ali, Wajid Ali, Shakeel and Guddu Khan would waylay trucks, kick out the driver and flee, the police said.

The police started tracking the gang after they found the dead body of a driver in Mandawali area in January. Santosh Kumar Yadav, who worked as a truck driver at the Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Tughlakabad, was found with both hands tied up.

Soon, the police apprehended Kaiser, a driver, and Aasim, a loader, at the ICD. They revealed that they were newly inducted members of the Wajid-Jamshed gang. The gang, active in Delhi and neighbouring states, was involved in numerous cases of truck jacking, the police said.

In the Mandawli case, Kaiser, Jamshed and Wajid hatched the plan to waylay the truck Santosh was driving after getting information about it from Aasim. After unloading the truck in Sahibabad, they strangulated Santosh after tying his hands with a rope, the police said.
