Addressing mediapersons, SSP Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill and SP (Detective) Gurpreet Singh Toor said the four were apprehended at a checkpost which was laid following a tip-off at the Daba Lohara road late on Wednesday evening. They confessed to the crime after sustained interrogation.
SSP Gill said the gang would use master keys to break the vehicles. “We also have seized nine master keys from thee four, who are in the age group of 18 to 22 years,” the SSP said, adding that Prince was the mastermind of the gang.
Gill said further interrogations were on to know about the exact number of vehicles the four had stolen. In the preliminary questioning, the four said they were stealing vehicles since the past nine months. They would sell these vehicles at cheap rates only in other states, police added.
