Panchkula Additional District and Sessions Judge Sanjeev Jindal on Friday framed charges against the two accused in the rape of a minor.

The charges were framed under Sections 342, 363, 366A, 376, 120B of the Indian Penal Code. According to information, the police could not get substantial evidence against the other people named by the victim.

On December 23, 2008, the Panchkula police had filed a chargesheet in the local court against one Jitesh Bareja alias Jatin and Aman Ahuja in the gangrape of a 17-year-old resident of Sector 14, Panchkula. The duo was arrested after the victim claimed that the two, besides two other people including a girl, tortured and raped her. The police had stated in the chargesheet that while the role of all the other accused was being investigated, Jitesh and Aman, during the investigation were found to have been involved in the rape. The police had also mentioned that the victim had spoken to a friend, Sunny alias Chunky Sharma, nearly 31 times on September 16, the day of the crime.

In her complaint to the police on September 18, the victim had alleged that she was first raped in a Punjab village and then at a government office garage in Sector 4, Panchkula.

Later, her mother had filed a petition before the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking for a CBI probe into the matter. The petition is still pending in the court.
