Chandigarh The German woman, who was allegedly gangraped in September last year, arrived in Delhi on Wednesday, to testify before a Chandigarh court. “We have received confirmation from the German Embassy that the victim has reached Delhi and would reach Chandigarh by tomorrow evening,” said Madhur Verma, ASP Central.

The victim will arrive in the city amid tight security and will be kept at an undisclosed location. She will be escorted by woman police officers and her father will accompany her. Her case will be heard in the court of additional district and sessions judge on Friday and her statements will be recorded. Last month, a lower court had framed rape charges against the five youths who had allegedly sexually assaulted her after forcing her into a car her from the parking of the Taj hotel in Sector 17 at about 2 am.

She was taken to a farmhouse in Ambala, where she was raped before being dropped in Sector 20 by two of accused the next evening. The victim was in the city to attend a Germany-based Indian friend’s wedding.

This will be the first time the victim will formally charge the men. She had told the police earlier that she was only molested. However, the CFSL reports had confirmed rape. The accused have been identified as Pankaj, Manvir Singh Jolly, Harpreet Singh, Sompal and Sukhwinder Singh, residents of different districts of Haryana.
