In the final round, Ganguly settled for a quick draw against P Karthikeyan in just fifteen moves while Ulibin beat M S Thejkumar. The two-way deadlock was resolved by bucholz score and Ganguly edged Ulibin with just half a point. Grandmaster Petr Kostenko drew his final game against Indian Grandmaster Neeltopal Das and finished third with 8 points.
India got two Grandmasters in the form of P Karthikeyan and S P Sethuraman at the end who finished fourth and fifth, respectively. International master Prathamesh Mokal also achieved the same status while Shahikant Kutwal, Prantik Roy and Arindam Mukherjee advanced a rung to International Master norms. In the women’s section, Shalmali Gagare finished at the top while Altykenov Yerlan of Kazakhstan finished finished first among unrated players.
