New Delhi, January 7 After a frenzied second half that saw four goals, Trackon-Garhwal Heroes walked away narrow 3-2 winners over Shastri FC in a Delhi Soccer Association annual senior division super league match at the Dr BR Ambedkar Stadium. Shastri FC were the first to make a mark in a match that saw various twists and turns. After Paritosh Sharma was adjudged having handled the ball in the area, Shastri FC’s Emmanuel calmly tucked away the penalty in the 20th minute. Garhwal attacked with a vengeance, but still failed to convert.

After the second half resumed, substitutions Abhishek and Anurag Meena had their effect on the Heroes’ team-coordination. In the 50th minute, it was the substitute Abhishek who finally got the long-awaited equaliser. Nigerian recruit Ini Emmanuel then gave them the lead through a shot from just outside the box. After missing several more great chances, Emmanuel then made the scoreline 3-1 for Heroes.

Dhilon got a late goal for Shastri, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Heroes from walking away with full points. Garhwal Heroes now have three points from two matches, while Shastri have just one from three.

Garhwal Heroes next play New Delhi Heroes. Tomorrow, Hind-Ahbab will take on Indian Nationals.
