The association has been on strike from Monday evening and this has resulted in a shortage of LPG gas cylinders in the city. On Friday, the city received just 24,000 cylinders against a total requirement of 50,000.
Representatives of the oil marketing companies (OMCs) like Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and the Indian Oil Company Ltd (IOCL) held a meeting with District Supply Officer Snehal Barge on Saturday, with their recommendations to improve the situation. “This requisition will help address the situation,” the representatives said. They wanted a similar action in Mumbai. Though the OMCs are trying to get the supply from alternative sites, the Shikrapur site has dried up and the Uran site is seeing a delay in supplies coming into the city.
All-India representative of LPG Agencies Association Vijay Bhave said the waiting list is only increasing. “The supplies are delayed and we are sending the customers back,” he said.
