There are around 50,000 employees from seven different power companies under the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL), who have approached the government to implement the Commission’s order.

The GUVNL is engaged in the business of bulk purchase and sale of electricity, supervision, co-ordination and facilitation of activities of its six subsidiary companies.

“We have written to the vice-chairman (co-ordination) GEB to accept the demands listed in the charter. This includes the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission,” said L A Gadhvi, Secretary General, GEB Engineers’ Association.

The employees fear the Lok Sabha polls will further delay the implementation and think it is the right time to ask.

“When we have been giving quality power, new connections, and twenty-four hour supply, then why are we not getting the salaries accepted by the commission?” said Gadhvi.
