GCMMF general manager (marketing), R S Sodhi, said, "We have increased prices in February. The present hike is a normal phenomenon. Prices of these products are hiked during summers." He added that the rise in the prices of input goods such as milk prices, VAT and other factors also played a crucial role in the recent hike. Sodhi claimed that the company was paying nearly 25 per cent extra to milk farmers as compared to pervious years.
Sodhi said, "The months of April, May and June witnesses massive consumption of ice creams. The demand for Amul ice creams witnesses an increase of about 40 per cent in these months."
The GCMMF owned Amul icecreams are manufactured in nearly 40 flavours. Amul operates nearly nine ice cream production plants operating across country.
