She was speaking at a Continuing Medical Education programme organised by Fortis Hospital on Tuesday night.
Over 50 senior doctors from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, GMSH-16, Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, and other hospitals attended the programme, which discussed the recent trends in the management of chronic sinusitis.
Dr Goyal said: “Through special cameras placed in the sinus, we are now able to identify tumours in the nose, brain as well as problems in the eyes of a patient. Functional endoscopic sinus surgery, along with medication, is the preferred choice for the treatment of chronic sinusitis.”
“As compared to earlier surgical techniques, the new minimally invasive surgeries ensure there is no scar and the incision is very small. For the patient this means less pain, less recovery time, a long-term solution to the problems and a better quality of life.”
