Labelled Operation Masoom — the police have rounded up around 250 children from diffferent areas in the district and are questioning people who have hired these children.

“As shown in the movie, people see children working in hotels or begging on the streets, but never report it. Moreover, police do not take cognizance of the missing reports. This is an effort towards increasing children’s safety in the district,” said SSP Akhil Kumar.

According to Kumar, there are thousands of children whose missing reports have been lodged in various state police stations. These children are either sold to hotel owners, made to work or exploited in other ways. “Police officers have been directed to take note of these children and find out if missing complaints about them have been filed in other states,” added Kumar.
