Ghaziabad SSP hurt as gun goes off

Ghaziabad The Ghaziabad senior superintendent of police shot himself while cleaning his service pistol on Thursday evening. Brij Raj Meena, the newly appointed SSP, was admitted to Yashoda Hospital, where doctors said he was out of danger.

Ghaziabad district magistrate Deepak Aggrawal told the media that the SSP shot himself in the palm of his left hand.

“He was clearing a bullet from his pistol chamber when the trigger was accidentally pressed. The bullet has been removed and doctors have declared him as out of danger. The incident took place around 6 pm, when he was cleaning his 9mm pistol,” Aggrawal said.

He was present in the hospital along with police personnel.
