Ludhiana An outing with his family proved to be an eye-opener for MC Commissioner G S Ghuman, who ordered the sealing of an under-construction building near Fountain Chowk. The three storey building was under construction without getting its plans approved by the MC.

He immediately called Municipal Town Planner Hemant Batra, on the spot and after verification it was found that the building plans had not been approved. The commissioner then immediately ordered that the building be sealed.

Ghuman said: “I am surprised to see how the Building department can just close their eyes when a building is under construction in the main market.”

Hemant Batra, said: “This building was coming up on about 50 square yards and thus, it did not come in our notice. But now, we have taken action.”

They also checked the plans of another under construction building in the area, but its plans had been approved.

At Ghumar Mandi, meanwhile, an illegal advertisement board was found on the rooftop of a building. The commissioner had ordered the removal of this structure, but no action had been taken till the filing this report.
