According to the rules, before metalling a road, the B&R department should intimate the O&M about their project and one of the engineers of O&M should visit the site so that he can guide the contractor about road gullies and storm sewer.”

He added, “If this is not followed in future then strict action will be taken against guilty.”

He said, “Even in the past, I have seen such mismanagement on the Chandigarh Road, Link Road and even many inner roads of the city. I have received a lot of complaints from city residents. The staff needs to learn that proper co-ordination is a must. At the same time both departments should know which areas need sewer widening so that road metalling can be carried out later.”
