She along with the boy who was found loitering in the centre premises were handed over to the Deccan police.
The invigilator at centre No 605 in Garware College (which is usually a centre reserved for repeat candidates) grew suspicious when the girl at seat number 517/ 569, who had come to appear for the ‘book keeping and accountancy’ exam claimed to have left her hall ticket at home.
The list comprising names and photos of the students showed that the seat was assigned to Ritesh Revannath Makre (22).
Immediately, the officials in charge of the examination centre, S G Khede and C A Jawale were summoned and on being questioned, the girl revealed that Makre was her friend and they were studying in Modern College.
The officials also apprehended Makre who was found loitering in the college campus and both were taken to the Prabhat Road police chowki.
Deccan Police Inspector Jayawant Deshmukh said that the students had been booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 420 (cheating) and 34 and under the Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices in Universities, Board and Other Specified Examination Act, 1982.
“The girl is a second year BCom student at Modern College, while the boy is a repeater from the same college,” said Deshmukh.
