Girl commits suicide

Ludhiana A student of the Government Polytechnic College allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her paying guest accommodation on the Circuit House road here today. In the suicide note, she held no one responsible for her death.

Preeti Sharma, 21, who hailed from Pathankot was studying in the Government Polytechnic College, situated in the Rishi Nagar locality. According to the police sources, Preeti had shifted to this paying guest accommodation today itself. Earlier she was living in Haibowal locality.

Police sources said that Preeti had shifted to her residence today afternoon and after that had asked the maid at the paying guest-house to leave her alone. When after some time, the maid came back, she found the door had been bolted from inside. When the room was not opened despite repeated knocking, the maid peeped through the window and saw the girl hanging from the ceiling fan.

The police said that the family of the deceased had been informed about her death. The police have started inquest proceedings under Section 173 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
