Rajinder Sharma, national president of the organisation said, “We passed some resolutions in the meeting about Shri Amar Nath yatra. We have written to Lt Gen S K Sinha, Chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, to implement these resolutions.”
Sharma said that the period of yatra should be from Gurupurnima till Raksha Bandhan, because as per Hindu religion, this is the right period. He added that extending the period creates difficulties for NGOs providing community services to the devotees, and also wastage of crores of rupees of the state government.
Sharma highlighted that the fee of Rs 25,000 being charged from the NGOs is not justified. Sharma said that last year too, Rs 15,000 was taken as fee, and Rs 10,000 as security, with the promise to provide clean sanitation facilities and a level platform for langar. But no facility was provided, and the security has not been refunded to many NGOs, he resented.
Sharma said that while the Central government provides subsidy to Haj pilgrims, for Shri Amar Nath Yatra ,a huge amount is levied as fee. This should be waived off completely, he demanded. He also urged that the landing of the helicopter should be at a minimum distance of two kms from the holy cave. This would save the ice lingam from melting before the conclusion of the yatra, he pointed out.
Sharma said that like the Badri Nath and Kedar Nath Yatra, Shri Amar Nath Yatra should adopt a similar pattern. The door of the Amar Nath yatra should be opened on Gurpurnima Day by a religious guru, and closed after the conclusion of the yatra. He asserted that nobody, in whatever capacity, should be allowed to undertake the yatra before its opening by the religious guru, to avoid the various sacrilegious acts that were committed last year.
A katha of Murari Bapu was organized last year before the commencement of the yatra which should have actually been held during the yatra so that the devotees could listen to it. The fees charged last year from the devotees for taking out their slippers should be scrapped too, the NGO demanded.
