Give Daler copies of witnesses’ statements, says court

Patiala A local court issued fresh directions to the investigating officer in the human trafficking case against Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi, asking him to provide copies of the statements of witnesses to Daler, as sought by him through his counsel.

The judge had issued such directions twice before, which were not complied with. The public prosecutor said the earlier orders could not be implemented as he had just taken over and assured the court of early action.

Girl dies while toying with revolver
HOSHIARPUR:
A 16-year-old girl was killed when she accidentally shot herself while fiddling with a revolver. According to her father Gurpreet Singh, the licensed gun belongs to Jaswant Singh, a friend of the deceased's cousin Manpreet. Jaswant had kept the revolver on a bed, when Gurpreet started to fiddle with it and ended up shooting herself through the forehead. She died on the spot. The police handed over the body to the family after necessary legal formalities.
