GNIMT’s director gives presentation

Ludhiana Under Faculty Development Programme of GNIMT, Dr H S Singha, Director, GNIMT Ludhiana, delivered an informative presentation on ‘Importance of personal effectiveness in institute building’ here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Singha compared effectiveness vis-a-vis efficiency.

Under Key Result Areas of Personal Effectiveness, he described excellence in own sphere of responsibilities, helping peers to excel in their sphere of responsibilities.

He said, “Excellence in own sphere can be achieved by loving your job, giving your hundred pc to your job and by bringing your heart along with your body and mind to the institute. Peers can be helped by way of team spirit and collective responsibility. We can help our subordinates to excel in their sphere of responsibility by giving clear directions, delegation and by intervention whenever required. Individuals can contribute directly to the organizational vision and mission. We must evaluate our contribution to the organisation. One must also interact and cope with the environment.”

He said, “We can give new and creative ideas by keeping service before self. Personal effectiveness also includes training of the subordinates and their development”. He also discussed dimensions and difficulties of self- development.

He described self-audit, self-image building, knowing the challenges and knowing assistance needed as steps in self development. He illustrated the topic with live examples from day-to-day life.
