Ludhiana, March 2 The gardeners of Guru Nanak Public School Sarabha Nagar have won 61 prizes at the annual flower show in Punjab Agricultural University. With this the school broke its own previous record of 2006, when it had won 52 prizes at the state-level event.

Says principal R S Gill, “It is the hard work of 13 gardeners under the supervision of Duryodhan, the school’s head gardener and it is indeed a matter of celebration for the school”. Gill has announced that the gardeners will be given a cash prize by the school.

The school nursery is self-sufficient, says head gardener Duryodhan. “I have a good team of gardeners who are equally efficient and love their job. We are happy that this year we have won the maximum prizes,” he says.

The major attractions of the school’s exhibits were Salvia, Marigold, Dahlia, Verbina and Flox species .

Ask Duryodhan the secret behind the achievement and he replies, “bas mehnat karte hain ji”.

The gardeners have exhibited their skill in the school as well. The campus has lush green lawns and vibrant flowers belonging to various species.

Meanwhile, BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar won 35 prizes in various categories.
