It also aims to tap the country’s perennial spiritual knowledge, robust intelligence, creativity and value-added education.
To seek this objective, the government will introduce a Bill called the Gujarat Educational Innovations Commission Bill – 2009 during the 10-day Assembly session, beginning February 17. State Education Minister Ramanlal Vora will move the Bill in the House.
The Bill, a copy of which was made available on Friday, says the status of the present educational system needs to be innovated, and that reformative ideas could be fruitful only if “we keep in view the holistic nature of education and interconnections between various stages of education”.
The Bill seeks to set up a
13-member Commission headed by the Chief Minister, with the education minister, secretaries of Education and Finance departments and prominent educationists being other members proposed to be inducted into the Commission.
The Commission will also focus on physical education courses like gymnastics, yogic exercises and athletics. Its headquarters will be in Gandhinagar.
