Lucknow Samajwadi Party chief and Leader of Opposition in the UP Assembly Mulayam Singh Yadav accused Governor T V Rajeswar of helping the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party.

He hinted that the tacit understanding of the Congress with the BSP is adversely affecting the former.

“The Governor is dancing to the tune of the BSP but the Congress leadership has remained ignorant. The Congress thinks the Governor is helping it but he is affecting the interests of the party in the state,” he said.

The SP leader was talking to reporters after the Governor’s address in the Assembly on Tuesday, which was disrupted by the Opposition.

Yadav alleged that Rajeswar had conveyed to Congress leaders that the BSP would win hands down in the Lok Sabha elections in the state and then support the Congress’ Prime Ministerial candidate.

Yadav also said the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated but the Governor’s claim that it was improving proved his nexus with the BSP government.

The SP had demanded removal of the Governor when Mulayam Singh Yadav was the chief minister.

“During my tenure, the Governor used to send daily reports to the Centre on the law and order situation in the state. But why he is not taking any action now?” he asked.

The SP leader also said: “While a PWD engineer is killed by a BSP legislator for failing to provide donations for the chief minister’s birthday, SP leader Kamlesh Pathak was detained under the NSA for opposing the murder.”

Yadav said the state had witnessed several murders and suicides in the last month, when people were forced to give donations for the CM’s birthday.

He alleged that a BSP minister had grabbed prime land worth Rs 200 crore in the state capital.
