Kolkata Chief Secretary Ashok Mohan Chakraborty on Monday briefed Advocate General Bolai Roy on the action taken regarding the banning of two-stroke autos in compliance with the January 10 Calcutta High Court order that had asked for an action-taken report to be placed before a division bench headed by Chief Justice S S Nijjar on January 30.

The High Court had earlier ordered the conversion of all two-stroke auto-rickshaws to four-stroke LPG mode. On Wednesday, Home secretary Ardhendu Sen, transport secretary Sumantra Chaudhury and Kolkata Police commissioner Gautam Mohan Chakraborty were also present in the meeting, which was held at the high court. The officials informed with the Advocate General about the amount of LPG supplied by the petrol pumps in the city.

Senior state government officials had visited a number of petrol pumps on Sunday to assess the amount of LPG supply in the city.

The High Court had also asked the state government to take necessary steps to ensure a smooth supply of LPG by adequate number of outlets in the city. The court had also directed the oil companies to send their representatives to the hearing.

During the hearing on January 10, the state government had pleaded for an extension of the deadline till July 31 this year.

The court had said it would pass an order after going through the action-taken report in the next hearing.
