Raji P Srivastava, Director Higher Education, also joined the students and raised the slogan of “jaago Chandigarh jaago”.
Teachers of the college said the boys were involved in the cause and wanted to organise an event where they could create awareness about female foeticide.
Talking to Newsline, Harinder, a fourth-year BPEd student of the college, who was distributing stickers on“Save your girl child” said: “The initiative was planned by the faculty and students. When we told them about our willingness to organise such events, the faculty was delighted and helped us.”
Prof Aparna Kaushal, a lecturer at the college said: “Looking at the enthusiasm with which these boys have come forward to spread a social message is wonderful. The entire faculty is quite impressed with them.”
They added it is rare to see boys coming forward for such a cause and people should encourage them. Rajbir, another volunteer said: “The only message that we would like to give the youth is that they are the country’s future and it is very important that they come together for this cause.”
