Govt creates 700 additional posts in four departments

Kolkata The state government decided on Tuesday to create 700 additional posts in four departments, including Home, bringing the number of such positions created in the current financial year to over 17,000. “It has been decided to create 474 additional posts in the Home (Police) department, 189 in hospitals under the Health and Family Welfare department, 25 in colleges under the Higher Education department and 12 in the Minority Affairs and Madrasa Education department,” Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta said after a Cabinet meeting. He said in the two Cabinet meetings held on April 20 and May 20, the government had created 17,081 additional posts in various departments. Dasgupta said the Cabinet has also decided to have society registration under the West Bengal Registration of Societies Act done by Treasury Officers and Additional Treasury Officers in the districts. Registration of societies in Kolkata and the adjoining districts of Howrah, North and South 24 Parganas will, however, be done in Kolkata, he said.
