Pune The city Congress unit is not sparing any chances to corner the ruling alliance of NCP, Shiv Sena and BJP in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The Congress efforts to add to the troubles of the ruling alliance has yielded results as the State Government has accepted its demand and suspended the decision of standing committee to give powers of preparing the PMC budget to standing committee chairman.

Leader of Opposition Ulhas Bagul had approached the state urban development department claiming that the standing committee decision was illegal and the powers cannot be entrusted to the chairman of standing committee and should be with the entire committee.

“The standing committee decision to entrust the powers with the chairman for preparing budget stands suspended. If anyone want to register their objection, they can do it in 30 days,” the state government order said.

Bagul said that this was not the first time that the ruling alliance had functioned illegally as it had done the same during appointment of the leader of opposition.

The Congress had to fight a legal battle to get the post of leader of opposition, he said alleging that the ruling alliance was trying to give powers of the budget with the chairman so that more provisions can be made to them while ignoring demand of Congress corporators.

Meanwhile, the general body unanimously approved the standing committee decision of rejecting the tax proposal of the civic administration.
