The projects that have been be put on the backburner are a knowledge hub a Baruipur in South 24 Parganas district , an expressway from Barasat to Raichak and a medical hub in North 24 Parganas district.

As per the revised agreement, the NKID group, of which the Salim group is a major stakeholder, will be the partners of the state government in three major projects — a) the bridge connecting Raichak in South 24 Parganas and Kukrahati in Haldia, a fly-over at Amta in South 24 Parganas and the approach road to the bridge, b) PCPIR at Haldia and Nayachar and c) the deep sea port.

This was discussed at a meeting held between Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and MD of Salim Group, Beni Santoso. Prasun Mukherjee of Unitech Universal, a partner of NKID, and other senior officials of the state government were present in the meeting.

The state government has also increased its control in two projects by deciding to set up two committees of secretaries, one for the PCPIR and the deep sea port and the other for the bridge and Amtala fly-over. The committees will supervise the progress of the work. The government has also decided to set up three separate bodies for the three projects — the bridge, the port and the PCPIR.

Santoso said they were ready to start work at Nayachar. “We are happy that West Bengal has got the PCPIR project. We thanked the chief minister and told him we were ready to start work,” Santoso said.
