After a long wait of several months, the Chandigarh Administration has zeroed in on one company for installation of the Global Positioning System (GPS) in CTU buses.

While four companies had expressed interest in the project, three of them were disqualified after the technical demonstrations. M/S I Build qualified and emerged as the sole company eligible for the financial bids. The administration has forwarded the company’s name to the UT Administrator S F Rodrigues for approval.

A senior UT official said: “With three companies disqualified at the technical stage, we have forwarded the name of just one company for approval.”

The administration’s ambitious plan of installing GPS on the buses has hit roadblocks previously after the selected company backed out in the last minute.
