Lucknow A 53-year-old security guard of a travel agency was found murdered in the office in Paan Dareeba locality in Lucknow on Sunday. The police suspect that it could be a case of loot as a safe-vault containing Rs 1.25 lakh was missing from the agency’s office.

Shiv Sharan, a resident of Shahajahanpur, was found with a wire wrapped around its neck and hands tied with his clothes.

“At 9.30 am when two employees of the agency came to office, they noticed its door was not locked from inside. On entering the office, they found Shiv Sharan dead,” said Circle Officer (CO) Qaiserbagh, Roshan Lal Jayant. Sharan used to sleep inside the office alone. The owner of the agency, who is out of the town, has been informed about the incident.

“There is more to this robbery as the offender left the deceased’s purse containing Rs 2,000, a laptop, and other electronic valuables intact,” said another police officer. “Further, it seems that the deceased already knew the criminals, for he himself would have opened the door which remains locked from inside,” he added.
