On January 9, at around 3 am, Prabhat Tripathi, a guard provided by Tiger Security Agency at Nadiadwala’s residence in Oshiwara, held both Nadiadwala and his wife at gunpoint and snatch around Rs 8 lakh in cash and jewellery worth about Rs 30-40 lakh.

“Our investigations revealed that Tripathi, who was posted on night duty at Nadiawala’s residence, had been planning with the morning shift guard, Shiv Charan Maurya, to rob the Nadiadwala family for three to four months. The duo knew where the family kept the jewellery and cash. Initially, they procured a knife to execute their plan, but decided a gun would be better. Through some common friends the duo came in contact with Anees Anwar-ul-Haq, a Chhota Rajan gang member, who gave them a Smith and Wesson revolver,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Rakesh Maria.

On January 9, Tripathi held the couple at gunpoint and decamped with the booty in an auto-rickshaw that Maurya had made to wait. “Tripathi gave some money to Maurya. He gave some of it to Anees. Acting on a tip-off, we arrested Anees from Mira Road around 12.10 pm and Maurya from Andheri around 12.20 pm on Monday,” said Maria, adding, “Tripathi was arrested outside Lucknow railway station and is being brought to the city.” Police recovered Rs 7.10 lakh cash and all the stolen jewellery from the trio.
