Ahmedabad, February 7 Gujarat BJP spokesperson I K Jadeja has condemned the Patan gangrape incident, and come down heavily on people trying to gain political mileage out of it.

A press release issued by the party said that the culprits should get the strictest sentence possible under the law. He urged the state BJP government to take expeditious steps in that direction.

Jadeja said, the Naredra Modi government has been elected back to power because of the great support and strength the women of the state have extended to the party, and there was no question of the party reneging that trust.

He said as soon as the incident came to light, the police and the administration quickly took necessary action and arrested the accused.

He said he was sure that the culprits would not escape the clutches of the law.

In another statement, Anandiben Patel, Patan MLA and revenue minister in the Modi Cabinet hit out at her detractors who have been pointing out the alleged connection between the accused in the gang rape case and some aides of her. She termed as 'shameful', media reports that some of her close aides were involved in the Patan incident. “It’s a shameful act of withdrawing political mileage out of the incident and is a work of ‘vested interests’,” she said.
