Atul Vaidhya, a former VHP president of Naroda, and Meghsingh Chaudhary, an advocate , are accused of instigating the mob and taking part in the riots on February 28, 2002.
“The two were very much a part of the rioting mob, and had instigated the people to attack the Society, which left 39 people dead and over 30 missing. They will be produced before the Metropolitan Court on Saturday,” said an SIT official.
Vaidhya and Chaudhary had moved an anticipatory bail application before the Ahmedabad City Sessions Court after they were declared absconders. But they withdrew their applications after realising that the court might reject their plea.
The SIT is still looking for 11 more people who have been declared absconders in the case. While five were declared absconders by the then investigating agency, the SIT has declared six others as absconders. The 11 include Chunilal Prajapati, Bipin Patel, Dilip Zingar, Dinesh Sharma, Jintendra Shivcharannath, Iniyo, Girish Sharma, Ramesh Pande, Ashish Pande, Virendra Goswami and Nandu.
Sources in the SIT said some of the absconders are likely to surrender before it soon.
