Kanpur On the information given by arrested MLA Shekhar Tiwari, the police on Thursday recovered an iron rod and an electric cable used in the murder of PWD Executive Engineer Manoj Kumar Gupta at Auraiya on December 23.

Both articles were found in the bushes on the road from Gail Vihar Colony to Dibiyapur police station. Tiwari and his henchmen had thrown these while going to the police station on December 24.

Tiwari has told interrogators that he was annoyed with Gupta for not passing the bills of certain contractors. The IG of Kanpur Zone, Bhanu Pratap Singh, said: “Tiwari has said that he wanted to teach Gupta a lesson.”

MLA's wife Vibha, who is the president of Dibiyapur nagar panchayat, did not appear before the police to record her statement on Thursday. She has been given time till Friday afternoon. The police have raided several places in search of former BSP district president Yogendra Kumar Dohrey alias Bhatia. The police have also moved for attachment of his property and the court order is expected on Friday.
