New Delhi, February 6 A 35-year-old dentist was kidnapped from Gurgaon Sector 9 area on Tuesday night, police said. The kidnappers have made a ransom call to the doctor's family demanding Rs 20 lakh.

The dentist, Dr Sunil Ahuja, went out in his Alto car to get the car repaired at 9 pm on Tuesday night. Ahuja's father, Rajender Ahuja said, "When he did not return for a long time, we called up on his cellphone, but there was no response."

Rajender said they kept trying Ahuja's mobile throughout the night, but in vain. They even called up Ahuja's friends, but even they did not know about his whereabouts. At 4.30 am, the family got a call on the landline. "A man said they had Sunil in their custody and demanded Rs 20 lakh for his release. I have no clue who the caller was. But he spoke with a Haryanvi accent," Rajender said.

After receiving the call, they filed a complaint at Sector 5 Police Station. Police officers found out that the kidnappers had called up from Ahuja's mobile. "Later, we found Ahuja's Alto at an Indian Oil petrol pump in Sector 9," a senior police officer said. Police officers said they are trying to trace the place from where the man called up, but Ahuja's cellphone is now switched off.

Ahuja, his wife, his nine-year-old son and his parents reside in house number 1811 in Sector 4, Gurgaon.
