New Delhi After AIFF’s proposed academy in Goa missed the deadline due to drifting into political mire over land acquisition, Gurgaon is among the list of contenders for the same, in case the western state fails to meet the 10-day deadline.

“The Goa government was told to complete the land acquisition process after the executive committee meeting on Thursday. If they fail to resolve the issue in time, Gurgaon might be an alternative venue. It’s for the sponsors to decide,” a source said. “If it comes out of Goa, it would be better. From the very beginning there was a lot of politics involved. Moreover, on the demand of the inhabitants of the area, a special quota was provided. This means a compromise at the first step,” he added.
