Ahmedabad The Justice D K Trivedi Commission, on Wednesday, visited the Sabarmati riverbed from where the bodies of two minor boys of the Asaram Ashram-run gurukul were found under mysterious circumstances in July last year.

The bodies were found two days after the boys had gone missing from the gurukul hostel on the night of July 3.

The commission is investigatiing the details of the circumstances in which the boys went missing and the subsequent police investigation in it as well as the measures, which can prevent such incidents in future.

This is for the first time that the commission visited the riverbed ever since it was formed in July last year following a large scale agitation against the police investigation and demand for an independent probe.

Sources in the commission said the officials of the CID Crime, which is investigating the case, accompanied the commission officials, including its chairman Justice Trivedi, along with officials of the Sabarmati police station and Forensic Science Laboratory.

A senior commission official told Newsline that the probe team wanted to see the exact site from where the two bodies were found. The official further said that the commission is now planning to visit the gurukul.

“Once we start examining the witnesses in the case, we will also call Asaram Bapu for deposition before the commission along with other witnesses,” the official added.
