According to medical superintendent, Sassoon Hospital, Dr P S Pawar, Shruti was referred from KEM Hospital with a history of high fever, cough and breathlessness for eight days. She was admitted to Sassoon on August 8 and was suffering from hypoxia and her chest X-ray showed broncho-pneumonia. She was administered high-flow nasal oxygen on August 9 but her condition worsened and she was put on ventilator. She developed pulmonary oedema and her blood pressure dropped on August 10. Despite administering medicines like Tamiflu, and injections like Azee and flagyl, she suffered a cardio-respiratory arrest on Tuesday and was declared dead at 1.30 am, Pawar said.
Of the 73 new cases, six are in critical condition, said district collector Chandrakant Dalvi. Naidu Hospital still has the maximum patients, 39, while Aundh Hospital has 24.
Till Monday, a total of 1,008 suspected cases had tested for the virus, of which 702 tested negative. The load on existing corporation-run hospitals has now prompted the collectorate to set up seven more pre-screening centers in the city. The centres will start functioning Wednesday onwards while three centres each in Pune cantonment and Khadki cantonment will commence on Thursday.
