Supporters of the queer from the film industry are elated with the Delhi High Court’s new ruling

Celina Jaitley, actor
With great pride and tears I would like to congratulate the entire LGBT community. Homosexuality is now legal in India. Our long battle is won and the gay can now walk with pride and their heads held high.

Onir, filmmaker
This is a landmark judgment by our judiciary system. I’m so happy for the gay community who can now live their life without the fear of being caught or threatened. They won’t have a live a false life anymore.

Madhur Bhandarkar, filmmaker
The gay and lesbian community in our country have always been made to feel left out from society. This is such a great and thoughtful move by the court and I completely support it.

Sanjay Suri, actor
Criminalising gay sex among consenting adults was a violation of fundamental rights. It is surely is a progressive judgment and should have been done away with a long time ago.

Sameer Soni, actor
I have nothing to comment on this. I’m sure the high court must have thought about their decision and I’m no one to say anything about it.
