Panchkula The Panchkula police today estimated the total loss to be around Rs three lakh in the Haripur robbery case, where a family of four and the driver were drugged and robbed by their newly employed help from Nepal.

The quantum was calculated after examining the house on Thursday evening.

While three of the family, including Rakesh Kapil, his daughter Abhilasha (17) and son Abheshek (15), have regained consciousness, Rakesh’s wife Tripta was unconscious till the filing of the report. The family is said to be out of danger and have been discharged from General Hospital in Sector 6.

Tripta is the principal of Starlit School in Haripur village, Sector 4, and the family lives on the first floor of the school.

The absconding cook, Deepak, reportedly escaped with two gold chains, two gold bangles, gold rings, three cell phones, a watch and cash.

According to the family, Deepak added some drug in the wheat flour used in the dough to prepare the family’s dinner. The medical reports are awaited which will confirm the actual drug used.

A case has been registered with the police and the driver Ram Bahadur is in police custody.

Deepak was appointed three days before the crime. He was employed on the recommendation of Bahadur, also a native of Nepal. He has been working as a driver with the family for the last two months.
