Harish Verma takes charge as vet varsity’s HoD

Ludhiana Dr Harish Kumar Verma, professor of Veterinary Extension (Gynaecology), has joined as head of the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana (GADVASU).

He had joined the university as an assistant professor in 1989 and was appointed as a professor in 2006.

Dr Verma has been bestowed with the Young Scientist award twice by the Indian Society for the Study of Animal Reproduction in the year 1993 and 1997 and a travel grant fellowship by the International Society of Andrology for his research paper among several other awards.

Interacting on a regular basis with livestock farmers, the professor also attends to their queries and provides tips on animal reproduction through lectures, animal welfare camps, field days, radio/TV talks and articles in the local language.

Based upon research and clinical observations, he has published over 250 research articles and four books and manuals.

At present, he is also working as the editor of various publications of GADVASU and has guided five students in the completion of their postgraduate degree.
