Harpreet Singh, Harpreet Kaur declared best athletes

SAS Nagar, February 4 Harpreet Singh and Harpreet Kaur were declared the best athletes in the men’s and women’s categories respectively in the 24th annual sports meet of Government College, SAS Nagar held today in the college complex.

In the men’s 5000 metres race, Harpreet Singh clinched the top spot while Varinder Singh came second. Vandana Teji bagged the first position in the women’s shot put while the second spot was won by Harpreet Kaur.

In the men’s shot put event, Harjit Singh won the gold medal while Randeep Gill claimed the silver medal.

Davinder Singh bagged the top honours in the men’s long jump event while Honey Kumar came second. In the women’s javelin throw event, Harpreet Kaur clinched yet another gold medal while Vandana Teji returned with silver.

In the women’s high jump, it was the again the duo of Harpreet Kaur and Vandana Teji who returned with gold medal and silver medal respectively.

In the men’s javelin throw event, Jatinder Singh claimed the top spot while Gagandeep claimed the silver medal. In the women’s long jump event, Harpreet kaur bagged yet another gold medal while Rajpreet Kaur claimed the silver medal.

In the men’s 200 metres race, Honey Kumar emerged as the winner while Manjinder Singh claimed the silver medal. In the same event in the women’s category, Harpreet Kaur pocketed the gold medal while Vandana Teji added silver in her medals tally.

In the women’s three leg race event, The duo of Priya and Navneet claimed the gold medal while Vandana and Yash Priya got the silver medal. In the men’s 400 metres race, Honey Kumar emerged as the winner while Harpreet Singh claimed the silver medal. Harpreet Singh clinched the gold medal in the men's 10,000 metres race while Varinder Singh grabbed the silver.

In the women’s 400 metres race, Vandana Teji grabbed the top position while Rajpreet Kaur got the silver.

In the men’s slow cycling race, jatinder Singh grabbed the top spot while Gurdeep Singh claimed the silver medal. Honey Kumar clinched the gold medal in the men's 100 metres race while Harpreet Singh grabbed the silver.

Earlier, Roop Aulakh, principal of the college inaugurated the meet by unfurling flag.

H S Grewal, deputy commissioner, SAS Nagar distributed the prizes to the winners.
