Harvest tennis: Kaur storms into semi-finals

Kolkata The main round matches of the Harvest Tennis Academy (HTA) — AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament commenced today at the sprawling HTA campus at Jassowal, Ludhiana.

Punjab’s Rimpledeep Kaur, an HTA trainee, stormed into the semi-finals of both girls’ under-16 and under-18 events. In under-16, it was an easy win for the top seed Rimpledeep as she defeated Priyanka Rawat 6-1, 6-0.

In the under-18 event, she was in total control getting the better of second seed Shreya Pasricha of Delhi. Shreya tried to make a comeback with a break in the fourth game in the second set, but that was all she had to show for. Rimpledeep won 6-3, 7-5.

Today’s results: Girls’ under-16 singles quarter-finals: 1-Rimpledeep Kaur (PB) beat 8- Priyanka Rawat (UTA) 6-1, 6-0; 5-Shreya Pasricha (DLI) beat 4-Bhavika Wadhawan (DLI) 6-3, 7-5; 3-Rajbir Kaur (PB) beat 7-Anukriti Choudhary (DLI) 6-4, 7-5; Riya Bhatia (DLI) beat 6-Sripriya Sarraf (BHI) 6-3, 6-2.

Girls’ under-18 singles quarter-finals: 5-Gundeep Kaur (PB) beat Sayesha B Dalal (DLI) 6-3, 6-4; 6-Baljinder Kaur (HAR) beat Hasan Dhanoa (PB) 6-0, 6-0; 4-Jaspreet Kaur (PB) beat 6-Rajbir Kaur (PB) 7-5, 6-4; Rimpledeep Kaur (PB) beat 2-Shreya Pasricha (DLI) 7-5, 6-1.

Boys’ under-16 singles quarter-finals: 7-Bavneet Singh (DLI) beat 1-Harry Jindal (PB) 6-1, 6-3; 4-Maninder Singh (DLI) beat 8-Kamal Kishore Madirana (RAJ) 6-4, 6-1; 5-Atul Sri Patel (UP) beat Manoj (HAR) 6-4, 2-6, 6-3; 6-Rishab Dev (PB) beat Nischay Rawal (CHD) 7-6(5), 6-4.

Boys’ under-18 singles quarter-finals: 1-Navneet Kumar (UP) beat Manish Drall (DLI) 6-2, 6-1; 3-Kunal Anand (DLI) beat 6-Ajay Yadav (CHD) 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(1); 4-Maninder Singh (HAR) beat 8-Jatin Dhaiya (DLI) 6-4, 3-6, 7-5; 2-Ronit Bisht (DLI) beat A Nikhit Prasad(AP) 6-2, 6-2.
