Haryana DGP claims decrease in crime rate, calls for scrutiny of parole system

Ambala, January 2 The Haryana state DGP, Ranjeev Dalal said that the police has resolved to take measures to reduce incidents of crime in the state. He said that the police was currently tracking convicts who have not returned, after the expiry of their parole term.

Dalal added that many criminals were involved in fresh cases, further adding to the workload of the police forces. Sources said that action must be taken to ensure that notorious criminal elements are not released on parole.

The DGP was addressing a press conference at the PWD Rest House on Wednesday.

He claimed that there was a decrease in crime rate in 2007. He said that steps were being taken by the police to control the activities of vagabonds.

He said that the Police Department made good progress in using IT in day to day functioning. A host of features such as information on FIRs related to vehicle theft, accidents have been uploaded on the police website.

He added that modern control rooms were being constructed at Gurgaon, Rohtak, Faridabad and Panchkula districts. He added that the system would be operational soon.
