Choudhry said the state government’s decision to ban the use of plastics as carry bags with thickness less than 30 microns was a step towards saving nature from hazardous effluents. She said the state government would give one months’ time to plastic carry bag manufacturers in the state to start manufacturing plastic bags of 30 microns thickness instead of 20 microns from the date of issue of notification. Directions would be sent to malls, shop owners and other institutions extensively using plastic bags and strict action would be taken against people who did not abide by the directions.
Choudhry said eco clubs would be increased to 5000 from the existing 2850.
A calendar would be made to mark the various events to be held throughout the year to educate the public regarding environment. She said the new tourist policy announced by the Haryana government yesterday would go a long way in promoting religious and eco tourism in the state.
She stressed upon the importance of public-private partnership for various tourism-related projects.
